When life gives you lemons… August 12, 2010

You do laundry.
I wish life gave lemons. Like, you wake up in the morning and there’s a bag of lemons sitting on your front porch. That doesn’t really happen. I mean, sometimes Aunt Frances will leave a watermelon–but that’s a far cry from a bag of lemons. Speaking of lemons, I think that Megan has an unhealthy obsession with them. I think she would put lemon pepper on ice cream if I didn’t look at her funny when she reached for it.
Anywho, yesterday, I helped the wife with a list of “honey-dos” in her classroom (which took up the majority of the afternoon.) Today, I sit at home with another list… Most of which is my most hated vice of LAUNDRY. Ick. So I shall piddle with it all day today while I enjoy my Sunday afternoon.
Wonder what to cook for dinner… ? Hmm.

Blog about food, I’d weigh like 300 pounds.
Oh wait. Hehe.
So I had the most amazing chicken breast and pepperjack sandwich for lunch. I’ve had it before, but today’s was extra yummy for some reason. I love food, and lately it seems like I want healthy food more than ever. It’s really weird. Other than pop-tarts for breakfast, I find myself reaching for “heart-healthy” foods more: salad, fruits, veggies, diet sodas. I guess putting the pepperjack cheese on the chicken sandwich kinda negates the healthiness of it though. I wish my knees and hips didn’t bother me so bad, cause it would sure be fun to get out there and play on the tennis courts on the back of the property. Maybe we can do it anyway!

So on my morning break I make the pilgrimage to the USAA mecca (aka the cafeteria), which my posse and I usually frequent.
In the nature of healthiness, I choose a cup of carrot sticks and fat-free ranch dressing. It’s not a snickers bar, but it’s pretty good.
Well, I sit down and indulge, sinfully washing each bite down with a swig of Cherry Coke Zero, and wrap up everything in normal fashion.
I get back to my desk and keep smelling ranch. No idea where it’s coming from. I look down and realize that between the buttonfolds of my shirt sits a giant glob of dressing. So I grab the WetOnes and go to town, making quick work of cleaning up the mess.
Well, not completely, apparently. I can’t get rid of the smell. It’s making me sick. I’m considering driving home just so I can change my shirt. Geesh.

So, when I got back from lunch I had an e-mail waiting on me from a co-worker.
Apparently I had dropped my debit card in the cafeteria and didn’t realize it.
She was good enough to e-mail me and let me know that she had it.
Another one of the wonderful things about working here.
I guess it’s debit card karma from when I’ve done the responsible thing in the past.
Woot.

So I found a mosaic-making program online, and it’s AMAZING! It lets you pick a picture that you want to make into a mosaic and then select a photo library of your own pictures to make it out of! Pretty cool, and the price was right! Here’s a picture of me and Megan that’s been…errr… mosaicized?

So I’ve been trying (unsuccessfully, obviously) for DAYS to get my Macbook with OS 10.5.8 to print to my Lexmark X2500 printer which is shared through Windows 7 on my desktop computer. I’m completely over it. I’ve messed with everything from Gutenprint drivers, to CUPS, to every SAMBA configuration you can freaking dream up, with or without firewall… EVERYTHING. The damn thing won’t work.
*frustrated.*

Yep. Still singing it.
Last night we saw the new movie with Will Ferrel: “The Other Guys.” All I have to say is that it wasn’t worth the $9 to see it. I was more entertained by the Dyson hand dryers in the bathroom than the actual content of this movie. We ate at BD’s first, which is always a wonderful adventure, and Megan and Jessie had one too many adult drinks. “I want to ride the horsey! Waaait… I want to ride the PONY! This pony has POOP on him! EWWWW!” Sigh. Good times.
Well it’s mid-day Sunday already and time to get motivated to do something.

Shitty that I have to work on Saturday.
Shaturday.
It’s not too bad actually. It’s not terribly busy, and it’s pretty relaxed. Me and Eric pretty much just sit here and shoot the breeze.
So my wonderful wife posted that stupid little mouse singing song, “You can deal with this, or you can deal with that, you can deal with this, cause this is where it’s at…” from that one commerical… I think it’s a Kia commercial. Well, now it’s in my head. Lovely. There’s nothing worse than a song being stuck in your head. Like that one song. “…let the beat drop…” I think I was singing that one for 6 weeks straight. It’s bad when you wake up and are singing a song or rapping lyrics in the middle of the night.
So, I’m looking forward to a day off tomorrow. Need to paint the posts of the carport… and clean the porch real good. Maybe pressure wash and blow my foot off again. We’ll see. Hopefully I can muster the motivation to do so!
Hopefully my case for my laptop comes in the mail today! I’m excited. Even though it’s probably lead-ridden in its trip from China.
Lovely.

So, I was looking back at old blogs today. Made me remember how much I miss logging my thoughts into the interweb. I previously stopped because of the McLurksters, but I shall give it another shot. I realized that my favorite posts to go back and read are the ones that are lists. That said, here’s a list that will hopefully lead to a regular blog resumption. (Is resumption a word? Hmm.)
So since my last post in February…
A lot of life has happened!
-I made a career move and went to work at USAA, which (minus the obvious) has been a great experience.
-Summertime came along, which has led to:
-Many, many Rays games.
-Beach weekends.
-Living life, staying busy.
-School is about to start again; Megan goes back on Friday.
Rays game’s on.
I guess I’ll cut this one off here, see if the McLurksters come back, and *hopefully* update again soon!
